For large bending widths and thick plates, a mechanically hydraulic driven CNC press brake is generally used. A set of folding tools (stamp and die) is placed on the press between the setting bar (or ram) and the table. The pressing force can be generated mechanically, hydraulically, electrically or manually. Hydraulic presses can have more than 3000 tons of pressing power.
To keep both the angles made and the dimensions within the set tolerances, advanced presses use CNC control, controlled stops and even laser measurement. When bending, a workpiece is placed on a mold, while it is positioned horizontally against the abutments. The folding angle is made by a stamp pressing the workpiece into the mold. Kanten is a metalworking technique for the deformation of a sheet metal.
The press brake is provided with a V-shaped mold (mold) on the underside. With, usually a hydraulic cylinder, a & lsquo; knife & rsquo; pressed down in the V-shape. This bends the sheet material.
